6: Challenge=opportunity

The question I want you to ask yourself & the thing I will be talking about today is: Challenge=opportunity, what does that mean?

An opportunity is a situation in which it is possible for you to do something that you want to do.

We are presented with choices every single day. Most are small choices, really insignificant seeming, but really that is usually the things that make all the difference in our lives. The little everyday things. So here is a story for you: Each night I go into my kids room & start a diffuser with doterra essential oils in it. If you don’t know what a diffuser is, it is a small thing that holds water & essential oils that when turned on it vibrates super fast to put a cool mist into the air. Ok, so I do this each night, it’s become very habitual, the kids love it & it helps them sleep & keep them healthy. The point of me telling you this...it would be super easy to not do this, but at the same time it is super easy to do & they benefit so much from it, sleeping better & keeping them healthy is really important to me & to them. We are faced with choices like this all day, we can either do the thing or not do the thing, but which path or opportunity will it lead it lead to if we don’t do the thing

From the book The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, the whole book is about resistance...as in we resist to do what we know we want or need to do...like something is holding us back. In one part he says, “ Remember our rule of thumb: The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.” Then he goes on to say, “so if you’re paralysed with fear, it’s a good sign. It shows you what you have to do.”

Here is another story for you: this is a bit of a crazy experience that I have really had to push myself outside my comfort zone. At my kids school every Tuesday & Thursday I stand in front of 350 kids to do a mini workout with them for 10 minutes. Keep in mind that we are new at the school this year, we didn’t know anyone & now I do this twice a week.

So, do you take opportunities that are presented to you? Do you reach out of your comfort zone to possibly gain more...knowledge, love, growth, education, power...or do you take the other path?

I know for me I need to take the plunge more often, to challenge myself more to see what opportunities come from it.
